Bio:

Brady lives with his wife, Amber, in the Middle Eastern country of Oman. His real job is teaching English, but as the desert offers little to do, he has plenty of time for drawing and painting things.

His newest project? An Illustration Shop called Serious Creatures. In the future? Who knows, but it’s rumored there might be a children’s book afoot.

My Story:

For years art frustrated me because I never had the ability to make the pictures in my head come out on paper. I took art in high school, and much to my mother’s frustration it was the only class I ever failed. Then I took one art class in college, but gave up because I was frustrated that my skills couldn’t produce what was in my imagination.

Then in 2008 during a very difficult season of life, I began drawing again as an “escape” to take my mind off things.

Surprisingly I could draw things I was NEVER able to before. It was like magic; as if one day I woke up and could draw whatever I wanted. I was excited at this, but for a long time was constantly afraid that my new ability was going to disappear as suddenly as it came. But thankfully it stuck around, and was instrumental in helping me during that very difficult time.

Then we moved to Oman, and life got difficult again. I continued to draw, and it kept me sane. I began posting my drawings on our blog, and found that people were enjoying them, and asking for prints, so I kept at it. Then one thing led to another and now you are reading this on my art site.

I hope you dig it,

Brady Black

    Brady,
I just got your cards from your mom. I love the cards and your ostrich reminds me so much of my ostrich from my two children’s books. If you have a portfolio you might see about sending it out to publishers. I can give you the contact person at Eakin Press and Pelican Press, my two publishers, if you would like to see what they think.
Have a wonderful Christ filled Christmas and I hope to hear from you soon.
