When creating this series, the “Tacky Sweater Dillo” was my first idea.

Many years ago my wife and our good friend created what is argued to be “the first tacky Christmas sweater party” EVER!
I know it is cool now, but seriously I think they might have had the first one. We had a photo booth and everything with my first digital camera. We are talking 2002-2003. If you know of a Tacky Sweater party before this please let me know.

Anyway I digress, I needed to start this series and a tacky sweater armadillo was the first thing to come to mind because, as you can see from other things, sitting in the desert makes me miss home, Texas!

Hope you dig,

b

ps: This piece is for sale as part of a set of 6 “Creature Cards” at our store.

As I looked at this again – it reminded me of the metal statues around the Env. Bldg here on campus. A UNT student as a project actually put sweaters on all the animals around the building. I cannot remember if it was an art project or textile/costuming class. It was great – she/he appeared to have knitted and stitched the sweaters for each animal.

I would have loved to see that. That is a great idea, and maybe one I will take up, but only in a drawing kinda way
